Western Mainland

Nick sat down on the sand, laying the rifle across his lap. "I can wait."

The human glared at him before turning to the rest of the group, sending half of them back.

"Don't be like that." He said at the glare. "I saved your whole unit's life. And most of the people on your ship. How long would it take you all to find out that only the nape of its neck is a lethal strike zone."

The chaplain interjected. "He is just annoyed with our situation. We are grateful you helped us."

Nick smiled at her. "Your welcome, sister of the cloth."

She frowned, confused. "Sister of the cloth? I am not sure what you mean. Is that your name for chaplains?"

"Chaplin, Sisters of the Cloth, Padre." He said. "All words we use, though the primary religion of our native people is based on the stars, not books."

"Astrology?" She nodded. "I am fine with you believing what you do. I, however, am a christian chaplain."

Nick held up his paw. "Understandable, like most of the Green Men. I'm simply dropping some exposition while we wait for the guys to get back."

She nodded. "OK. Thanks." She looked at Matthew. "So, could you bring me to the wizard and bring my men to these green men? Or will that cost extra?"

"One payment round trip." He said. As he stood up and stretched. "But I'll only take four of you. We only have so much space in the wagon."

She stood up as well, glancing back at the boat. She was sure it was for the right reason. But why did she feel so hesitant? She shook off the feeling. "So you can drop me off?"

"Drop you off where?" Nick asked. "With the Green Men or the wizard."

"Drop me off at the wizard and drop them off with the green men."

"We could." He said. "She wouldn't want you to stay but I could do that."

The Chaplain shrugged. "I am sure I will be fine. Just leave me there and take my men to the green men as quickly as possible."

"Come on then." He whistled to the woods. More people came from the trees. All wearing similar uniforms and carrying weapons of various eras. "These men and women are my subordinates."

She looked at all of them, surprised.

Matthew tensed, unsure of what he should do. He was hoping that the person wouldn't do anything if they had numbers, but now he wasn't so sure.

"Relax," Nick said in a flat tone. "If I wanted you all dead I would've let the titan kill you. And if not that I woulda had my men fire on you while they where concealed. You sure you all are soldiers?"

The soldier turned his glare back on the fox, his fist balled as if he wanted to strike the fox. "I am sorry if we don't live up to your standards, asshole."

"I'm just saying, if the presence of armed people whom are for the most part using inferior weapons worries you, you have no confidence in the skills of your unit. Maybe that guy wasn't insane, maybe you are out of your depth. This world you find yourself in in vast, fantastical and beautiful but it is NOT for the timid. You may as well get in your ship and sail north along the coast till you reach New Austin...should only take a couple hours at forty-five knots."

He walked up to the fox. "Guns can kill, no matter what type they are. A bullet from an m4 kills just as well as one from a luger. And I am sorry if I am defensive about being outnumbered. We just sent half our people to get your ordinance, and it seems pretty suspicious that you bring your people out right after I do that."

"And again I say, if I wanted to do anything wouldn't I have kept them hidden?" He asked as he stretched. "I'm putting all my cards on the table, good will and all that."

He rolled his eyes. This fox was extremely close to making him go off on him.

The Chaplain glared at the human before saying, "Matthew, I order you to go back to the ship with the rest of the men after they come back." She wasn't going to let them ruin their only chance of going home. If she remembered correctly, they could just use the Fox's instructions to get to new Austin, wherever that was. However, she still needed to talk to this wizard.

(Also, just realized, I am pretty sure only carriers can go above 30 knots. Maybe fast attack subs, but definately not destroyers.)

Nick smiled at the chaplain. "You're a very pleasant individual, I like you." He looked back at the rest of his soldiers. "Take not men, this is a very polite person."
